Tinea Capitis is an infection caused by the fungi called dermatophytes. This condition is often referred as ringworm of the scalp. This infection mostly affects young children and toddlers. It is remarkable to note that the symptoms of this condition disappear as soon as the child attains his puberty. The growth of this infection-causing-fungus, dermatophytes, multiplies on moist and warm areas of the skin. The probability of getting infected with Tinea Capitis increases if the person has recently survived a minor or major scalp injury. He/ she also become susceptible to this condition if he/she has a poor or uncared hygiene. Next, leaving areas of skin moist due to sweat can also lead to the inhabitation of this fungus.  It is important to note that Tinea Capitis is a contagious infection. A person can easily get attacked by this infection if he comes in a direct contact with an infected person. Therefore, it is extremely important to avoid the share of combs, clothing and other items with the affected person. One of the most common symptoms of Tinea Capitis is the immense loss of scalp hair. Secondly, in adverse stages, this condition also leads to abnormal itching sensation on the scalp.
