Nail fungus facts |
Nail fungus refers to a condition when the nails get infected by a harmful species of yeast or fungus. In medical terminology, this condition is often referred as Onychomycosis. This infection manifests in form of discolored nails which eventually disintegrate over the time. Nail fungus can only occur when the thick surface of the nails become soft and porous. This happens due to the over-usage of nail polishes which tend to prevent aeration and thus trigger the settlement of fungal species. Uncared hygiene of the feet may also lead to the establishment of the fungi roots on the surface of nails. Poor health, inappropriate diet and incompetent immune system are recognized as other factors that lead to the development of this condition. This condition predominantly affects the toe nails more than the surrounding finger nails. Nail fungus may not get relieved on its own over a midnight. This is an agitating infection which should be met with proper medications. The most potent relievers for this infection are strong anti-fungal medications and creams. These medicines take a time span of two weeks in order to completely eliminate the presence of harmful micro-organisms on the feet. Apart from medicines, there are numerous natural oils and creams that are designed to offer relief from this condition. |
